American Heart Association Heart Gala
February 2025
We were a proud sponsor of the American Heart Association Nashville Heart Gala this year, an event we look forward to annually. Trip Hereford was on the executive leadership team that helped bring the 2025 Heart Gala to life. The Middle Tennessee chapter has had one of their most impactful years to date. They have reached more than one million people across Middle Tennessee through sustainable policy and system changes. They placed 20 new blood pressure check stations throughout the community, passed local smoke-free polices, implemented emergency response and Hands-Only CPR protocols, addressed nutrition insecurity through heart healthy food clinics, funded over $4 million in local research and so much more. For more information and to support the American Heart Association Middle Tennessee chapter, please visit them online.

1% For the Planet
November 2024
Hereford Dooley Architects joined 1% for the Planet in 2024, committing to donate 1% of annual sales directly to nonprofit environmental organizations. Becoming a 1% for the Planet member is another significant step in the firm taking meaningful action to better the planet. By pledging 1% of revenue as it grows, we hope to raise the bar of what it means for businesses to be a valuable part of outcomes that support the environment and protect our planet.
‘Currently, only 3% of total philanthropy goes to the environment and, only 5% of that comes from businesses. The planet needs bigger support than this, and our growing network of business members are doing vital work to increase giving and support on-the-ground action. We're excited to welcome Hereford Dooley Architects to our global movement,' says Kate Williams, CEO of 1% for the Planet.
Today, 1% for the Planet has over 4800 business members from 110+ countries. Altogether, contributions of 1% of annual sales, have raised over $670 million to support approved environmental partners across the globe.* Environmental partners are approved based on referrals, track record, and their focus on environmental issues. There are thousands of approved partners worldwide; members can find and support the causes that matter most to them. Principal Tom Dooley retires after 40 year long career
May 2022
Thomas Dooley, founding principal of Nashville-based healthcare firm Hereford Dooley Architects retired May 11th after a four-decade long career. Tom Dooley opened the Nashville office in 1994 when he partnered with Lyman+Davidson out of Atlanta. The firm created a healthcare portfolio of acute care facilities, ambulatory surgery centers, freestanding ERs, medical office buildings, cancer centers, and other specialty clinics. Twenty years later, Dooley led the Nashville studio through a reorganization of the company that became the Hereford Dooley Architects of today.
Dooley has worked in the architecture industry for nearly 40 years and is a proud University of Kentucky alum. He has served many clients throughout the decades and has been a respected leader within the firm guiding them to their core values. The healthcare portfolio under his care includes award-winning work with over 1,000 planning/design projects across 26 states. Local and noteworthy projects include projects at TriStar hospitals: StoneCrest, Summit, Southern Hills, Centennial, Horizon, Hendersonville as well as the Murfreesboro Medical Clinic. He has a special expertise in the design of Ambulatory Surgery Centers and has helped improve quality outcomes for these patients through the development of various prototypes. Dooley also took on several pro bono projects over the years – mostly with small churches and non-profits across Middle Tennessee. Dooley will continue to serve on Hereford Dooley Architects Board of Directors and is committed to the success of the firm. He will volunteer with his church and various ministry organizations throughout the Nashville area in the coming months and years ahead.
Principal Trip Hereford says, “In Tom’s time as Principal, he steered the firm through challenging periods of remarkable growth and downturn in the economy, and great transformations in the healthcare industry. He has been an incredible leader, mentor and friend. He set a wonderful example and laid a strong foundation for our firm to be successful for many years to come. We will all miss Tom, but wish him nothing but the best during his next chapter.” Hereford Dooley Architects will continue under the leadership of firm principal and owner, Trip Hereford.
