Doing our part to create a more Just world.

Many sustainability initiatives have been established over the years. They are focused on environmental and economic concerns, effecting real change and our quality of life as it applies to building and products. The International Living Future Institute (ILFI) who is responsible for creating several of these global certification programs soon realized that a clear and concerted effort to address social equity issues had been generally absent in most businesses and organizations. To help address concerns of this nature common in the workplace, they launched JUST.

In 2021, Hereford Dooley Architects started the documentation process for the JUST label. Designed to look like a nutrition label, it is a voluntary disclosure tool. The self evaluation process relies on transparency, open communication and honest information about how an organization treats their employees and practices community stewardship. Organizations can determine how well they address social justice concerns, and take steps to develop more progressive policies and practices.

We are proud of the investment we have made in yielding our JUST label. We are dedicated to elevating the discussion around social justice and improving the lives of our team members and our community. Together, through continuous improvement, we can help to create a better, more socially just and equitable world. We invite you to learn more about this program and its benefits.

A Living Wage

As of 2024, Hereford Dooley Architects became a certified Nashville Living Wage employer. A living wage is the minimum amount a worker must earn to afford basic necessities, without public or private assistance. The Nashville Living Wage is based on the survival wage rate for Davidson County, which was determined by the 2023 ALICE Report from the United Way of Tennessee. They hope to educate our community on the importance and urgency of a "more just" minimum wage. We wanted to apply to be a Nashville Living Wage employer because it aligns with our core values, which guide every decision we make in our firm. SIGLI, the acronym we have given our values, helps us make important business decisions that are not only a reflection of our firm but our people as well. With our values of service, integrity, generosity, learning, and improvement at the heart of our firm, we are proud to be a certified Nashville Living Wage employer.
